I'm Jenny Rao, Founder of Refresh Home Studio. Raised on a small farm in Wisconsin, I have always valued hard work and helping others. Whether it was helping plant flowers (yes that's me in the dirt!), mowing my grandparent's lawn or asking to help organize mom's kitchen cabinets - hard work and seeing things transform brought me a sense of calm. I also worked hard as an adult in my corporate career and was achieving great success around the time I decided to leave.
The first half of my career was spent helping others navigate individual and organizational change in the workplace. Despite my success, I was navigating many of the common challenges other working parents face.
I've always loved helping friends and family organize, paint, style and stage their homes, but until recently was too afraid to turn that into a full-time career. Several things gave me clarity that while I wanted to continue doing hard work while helping others, I instead craved the type of work that brought me the same sense of joy and wonder that little farm girl once had. I wanted to get my hands dirty more. To move more. And to reach people on a deeper level and make changes that had felt overwhelming to tackle alone.
Change is rarely neat and tidy. It comes with uncertainty, tons of decisions, things we aren't ready to let go of, and spaces that no longer work for who we've become. Refresh Home Studio isn't about creating a 'social media-perfect' home. It's about helping your home work for the life you're living NOW - and the one you're moving toward.

What do you do and where do you serve?
I offer a variety of services ranging from home organizing, decluttering, move support, home decorating & styling, and painting services. I take care of all of the shopping needs for new solutions we implement. I provide in-home services throughout the greater Madison area, including Madison, Middleton, Verona, Fitchburg, Waunakee, Mount Horeb, Oregon, and nearby communities. If you live farther away, please reach out—travel may be available depending on the project. Virtual organizing and styling services are available regardless of location.
Are products included in your website prices?
No. Prices quoted on the website are for the services (hourly rates for work performed on site and while designing or shopping). Cost of products or construction services are additional (i.e. paints, paint supplies, storage bins, labels, or outside contractors such as electricians or plumbers).

What types of transitions might warrant a Refresh?
Do I need to be home while you work?
Not necessarily. It is helpful for you to be available during the initial organizing and decluttering process so we can make decisions together. Once your priorities and preferences are clear, I continue organizing, styling, painting, or unpacking independently if you are comfortable providing access. Nothing will be discarded or donated without your approval.
I complete most organizing, styling, shopping, and small-scale painting work myself. For larger projects or work requiring specialized expertise, I may recommend or coordinate additional organizers, movers, painters, electricians, plumbers, or other professionals. Any additional help and related costs will be discussed with you before work begins.
Do you work alone?

Many of us have ADHD, executive functioning challenges, or stress in our daily lives that make organizing feel a lot harder than simply 'putting things where they belong.' Systems, habits, and 'homework' that work for some, don't work for others.
I help remove the decision fatigue by helping you sort through items (many times just to be your body double!), create systems that make sense for YOU, and build spaces that feel more like the person you're becoming.
And you never have to clean up before I arrive.
Absolutely. You do not need to hire me for styling or painting. My Organize & Reset service can be customized to focus entirely on decluttering, organizing, labeling, donation preparation, and creating practical systems that make your space easier to maintain.
Can I hire you only for organizing?
I provide small-scale interior painting as part of an organizing or room-refresh project. This may include bedrooms, offices, closets, pantries, mudrooms, laundry rooms, accent walls, or furniture. Larger projects, exterior painting, or significant repairs may be coordinated with a professional painting contractor I work with.
